About the Role
HCI seeks a detail-oriented, compassionate HR professional to join our operations team and lead day-to-day human resources and people operations, including hiring, onboarding, payroll and benefits coordination, and fostering a positive and supportive workplace culture.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week.
Responsibilities
Human Resources
- Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day HR operations and employee support.
- Support the hiring process by posting job openings, coordinating interviews, and preparing onboarding materials.
- Facilitate new employee orientation and ensure completion of required documentation.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR files.
- Coordinate payroll and benefits administration tasks.
- Assist with employee engagement and organizational culture initiatives.
- Help ensure HR policies and procedures are followed and updated as needed.
- Manage staff technology onboarding and offboarding (accounts, access, equipment setup).
- Support implementation of new tools or systems that enhance organizational efficiency.
Operations and Internal Systems Support
- Collect, track, and report data; check source data to verify completeness and accuracy.
- Collaborate as part of the operations team to support implementation of projects and programs and promote interdepartmental collaboration.
- Maintain and support internal systems, processes, and documentation to support smooth day-to-day operations.
- Support effective engagement of college interns, work study students in the operations team’s work.
- Monitor and track software subscriptions, renewals, and user permissions.
Required Qualities
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in HR, office administration, or operations/project coordination.
- Ability to work on-site in Northfield and Faribault, with some flexibility for remote work as needed.
- Experience supporting payroll and benefits administration.
- Familiarity with HR systems, Google Workspace, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, communication, and project management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Comfort learning new systems and technology.
- Ability to multi-task, manage complex workflows, and work independently while collaborating with a team.
- Positive, flexible, and proactive approach in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work on-site at both Northfield and Faribault locations and travel between HCI locations as needed.
- A deep passion for supporting children, youth, and families and advancing equitable outcomes in school and community settings.
Preferred Qualities
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Experience in a nonprofit environment, particularly working with state or federal grants.
- Familiarity with Trinet HRIS system.
- Familiarity with Quickbooks Online.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish or Somali.
- Knowledge of Rice County and surrounding communities.
